Desert Engagement Session : Caitlin and Andru

July 3, 2018

The first five minutes as we hiked out into the desert last week I tried to apologize for the 100+ heat we were having as we started the session and they told me they were LOVING IT! Flying in from Seattle will do that to you! The heat feels so good and I try to remember that weather flip does feel so good, especially the dry heat! These two met  at the end of their freshman year at  UofA in Tucson, so the desert a second home to them and the place where their relationship flourished for two years! Their first date was to an AZ Diamondbacks game and so really their hearts belong to Arizona!

Caitlin and Andru truly soaked up every moment of this session, and out time together and were up for anything! Including hiking up some boulders and walking through the sand and navigating cacti to get these beautiful shots of them as an engaged couple! When I went to edit, picking out favorites for the blog was such a challenge because every photo felt so light and beautiful with these two! They truly were in the moment the whole time and just along for the ride which I love! Laid back and go with the flow couples are my jam! They make a session that could be viewed as hot, sandy, and bright, and turn them into these glowy dream sessions just oozing with positivity and love! And for that I am so thankful! Caitlin and Andru I am so excited for your Sanctuary wedding in the spring! Much love to you from our 100+ heat, we’ll see you all soon enough on the big day! – Jenn

“So our proposal story…..  It was a total surprise! We’ve been dating for almost 8 years and every day he would jokingly ask me to marry him and I would reply, “Well…I wouldn’t say no.”
I always new one day we would get engaged but I had no idea that day in December would be the day he would ask me for real. I was pretty grumpy that day as work had been stressful and my friends backed out on a concert that I wanted to go to. So I decided to watch TV and didn’t move from the couch most of the day. He talked me into getting up off the couch and dressed so we could go grab dinner. While we were at dinner, he told me to check my phone. It was a confirmation notification regarding the concert tickets he had bought for the two of us! I was so excited I could barely eat!  When we got back to the house we decided to take a few pictures before leaving for the concert. He then got down on one knee in front of our Christmas tree and asked me to marry him. I realized afterwards that he was filming the whole thing…not taking pictures. I cried through the whole proposal and couldn’t believe he had designed such a beautiful ring himself.  We then called our families and friends before racing off to the concert. It was an amazing night.” – Caitlin

“My favorite thing about Caitlin is she is just fun to be around. She’s funny, she’s energetic, and she’s just happy to do things together. Whether we’re doing something I enjoy—like going to a baseball game or singing karaoke—or doing something she enjoys – like going snowboarding or going to a music festival—she always has a smile on her face and makes the night better.” -Andru

“I first knew I was in love with him when… we spent every moment together after our first date. We were both home from college that summer and spent every day on the phone, texting, or hanging out in person. He was so easy to be around and had a great sense of humor. That summer is when I fell in love with him, it wasn’t a specific moment but a series of awesome dates and time spent with each other.” –  Caitlin

“Our first kiss was in college, at a friends house party. We weren’t officially together at this point but we were cuddling on the couch when he had leaned in for the kiss. It was a sweet moment since we were the only two around when it happened and our friends didn’t know we were dating.” – Caitlin

“Our relationship works so well because we complement each other’s natural skill set. I’m more logical and outcome oriented, whereas Caitlin is more emotionally intelligent and enjoys every moment. I can build or fix anything around the house, but Caitlin has the knack for design which makes everything look nice. I push her to workout and eat better, she pushes me to go out more and try new things. Basically, we make a great team and can accomplish anything together.” -Andru

“The first time I asked her to be my girlfriend was at a Suns playoff game in 2010. We had gone on a few dates and been seeing each other pretty much every day but hadn’t yet made it official. I said ‘I love you’ a month later after some group outing. (I think it was a river trip) .” -Andru
